The SMLA believes in, and pursues, personal freedom while maintaining personal responsibility. We strongly oppose any government interference in our personal, family and business decisions. Essentially,
we believe all Mainers and all Americans should be free to live their lives and pursue
their interests as they see fit as long as they do no harm to another. We adhere to the U.S. Constitution, and strongly oppose and all efforts to subvert it through legislation and judicial decisions. We strongly support the Bill Of Rights as written and believe firmly in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and especially the 10th amendment. We believe strongly in individual property rights and argue that Kelo v. City of New London needs to be reversed. We believe in a return to sound fiscal policy at the local, state and federal levels. We believe that the federal government should return to sound money. We support any and all efforts to combat the eroding of our liberties at all levels of government. We are advocates for a smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.
